Catherine Kirkwood
After living in Shetland for over 20 years, Cath moved to Orkney in 2014. She works as a self-employed gardener as well as travelling around Orkney reading water meters. Over the years Cath has been involved in helping to run various school and community groups. Her interests include knitting, crochet, family history and Scottish Dancing.
Lesley Livsey (1939-2021)
Lesley trained and worked as a PE teacher. In Orkney, she became a YTS trainer and was instrumental in setting up the Volunteer Centre at Voluntary Action Orkney in Kirkwall. Her interests included gardening, arts and crafts, classical and folk music. With Trish Spence, she set up the Community Garden in St Margaret’s Hope. Read more about her.
Elli Pearson
Elli ran her own pottery studio and shop, and is now retired. She was a founder member of The Workshop and Loft Gallery craft producers co-operative back in 1978. Now in its 46th year, it is still thriving. She is a keen gardener and can be found working in the Marengo Community Garden.
Jenny Rambridge
Jenny worked for 23 years in educational publishing, retiring in 2009. She was a member of the management committee of The Workshop and Loft Gallery crafts cooperative and volunteers with many community groups. Her interests include gardening, music, film.
Trish Spence
Trish recently retired as a curator of the Loft Gallery, part of The Workshop and Loft Gallery crafts cooperative. An artist herself, her career was mostly in arts and crafts and included running a business designing and producing knitwear. She has also worked in early learning. For some years she worked as a freelance gardener and has been involved for many years with the Marengo Community Garden in St. Margaret’s Hope.
